Tara Brown is a Partner at WhitbeckBennett. Ms. Brown was born and raised in northern New Jersey where she worked full time to put herself through college and law school part time. She graduated from Rutgers School of Law in New Jersey with an academic award. While attending Rutgers Law School Tara served as facilitator of study groups in the minority student program, teaching assistant, and Editor of the Women’s Rights Law Reporter.
Ms. Brown has been practicing Family Law and Trust & Estates for six years, and has 18 years of experience negotiating contracts. Her endeavor to objectively evaluate situations has led to creative, unique solutions in negotiations with opposing parties in the practice. Ms. Brown provides zealous advocacy and level-headed representation focusing on the facts and the applicable law, making her a unique asset to clients and the firm.
She takes a very personal approach to each case to learn what concerns her client the most about their specific legal situation and develop a plan to achieve their desired solution. Understanding that contacting a lawyer and dealing with legal action can be intimidating and unfamiliar for most people, Ms. Brown aims to reduce any anxiety or stress that often comes with these situations to more effectively and adequately address individuals’ legal issues.
Ms. Brown is licensed in four states including Virginia, Colorado, New Jersey, and New York. She is a member of the board of directors of the Swift Creek YMCA, and Metro Richmond Women’s Bar Association.
Her and her husband, Sahib, have four amazing children ages 31, 30, 17, and 8, plus one grandchild. In her spare time, Ms. Brown loves spending time with her family, running, exploring Virginia, cooking, reading, and traveling.
