Liz is passionate about advocacy for Special Education clients and families. As a mom with two kids with disabilities, she started her advocacy at home working with the public schools for her own children, and understands firsthand how daunting and overwhelming the special education process can be. She has spent years advocating in many IEP meetings, due process hearings, won a recent victory in the Eastern District Court of Virginia for Parents, and has provided oral argument for the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals. She has fought tirelessly for parents at every level of the special education and dispute resolution process from IEP eligibility to appeals in federal court. Liz originally gained special education experience in a pro bono special education firm in NY where she won unilateral placements for the most medically fragile students.
Prior to her specialization in Special Education, Liz initially gained valuable civil litigation experience in employment law in two previous firms, prior to becoming a Partner at WhitbeckBeglis. She has experience with employment discrimination, EEOC, MSPB, and OSC appeals in addition to the state grievance process. She was also a magistrate for the Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court of Virginia.
Liz is a proud Baylor Bear alumni for undergraduate and received her J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law, although she is a native Virginian.
Liz enjoys outdoor activities with her kids, farmers markets, making use of the amazing rec facilities in Loudoun, and most of all- rekindling her love of horseback riding.
