Beth Chavez works in Whitbeck Bennett’s Manassas office and exclusively practices family law in Prince William County and throughout Northern Virginia. She is fluent in both English and Spanish. An attorney since 2016, Ms. Chavez is experienced in handling every type of family law matter in Virginia, including separation, divorce, equitable distribution, adoption, custody, visitation, and support cases.
Originally from Houston, Texas, Ms. Chavez earned her B.A. from the University of Houston. During college, Ms. Chavez entered the U.S. Army ROTC program. After graduation, she served for 10 years as a U.S. Army Military Intelligence Officer. After leaving the military, Ms. Chavez returned to Houston to study law at Thurgood Marshall School of Law. Ms. Chavez graduated from law school as a single parent with the help of her extended family. In 2014, Ms. Chavez moved to Virginia near her ex-husband, so that their children could experience having both parents in their daily lives as much as possible. Soon after relocating to Virginia, she began working as a paralegal while raising her children and preparing to take the Virginia Bar Exam. Ms. Chavez earned her Virginia Bar license in 2016.
Ms. Chavez built a foundation in family law working for Legal Services of Northern Virginia from 2016 to 2018, representing victims of domestic violence in cases of physical and mental abuse. She then expanded her knowledge to other areas of the law working for a law firm in Fairfax from 2017 to 2020. However, Ms. Chavez felt called back to the practice of family law, and in February 2020, she started a firm in Manassas. Ms. Chavez worked at Livesay & Myers, P.C. as an associate attorney from January 2021 until February 2024.
In February 2024, Ms. Chavez joined Whitbeck Bennett as a partner and will be working out of our Manassas office.
